(Singapore, 11.09.2025)The Asia New Vision Forum (ANVF) 2025 opened in Singapore today, convening over 600 investors, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from more than a dozen countries to debate Asia’s economic future at a time of rising global uncertainty.

Organized by Caixin Global with the Singapore Tourism Board as host partner, the three-day forum is being held for the third consecutive year in Singapore under the theme “Charting the Future Amid Uncertainty.”

Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong set the tone with an opening keynote on Asia’s role in a fragmented world. Caixin Media’s Editor-in-Chief Wang Shuo urged leaders to “steer by the pole star while staying flexible on the journey,” stressing the need for resilience and freedom of thought in uncertain times.

In the headline dialogue, Hu Shuli, Publisher of Caixin Media, joined Lawrence H. Summers, former U.S. Treasury Secretary and Harvard President Emeritus, for a wide-ranging exchange on U.S. debt, tariffs, artificial intelligence, and China–U.S. relations. Summers described U.S. tariffs as “extremely unwise,” warning against zero-sum thinking. He argued that AI could spur global growth but also poses shared risks that “place a heavy responsibility on both China and the United States.”

Across 30 sessions, the forum explores geopolitics, financial markets, AI, biotechnology, the energy transition, and advanced manufacturing. The inaugural Caixin CG Capital Forum also launched under the theme “AI, Automation & The Next Digital Frontier.” Wei Shaojun, Professor at Tsinghua University, highlighted semiconductors as central to China’s “next industrial revolution.”

The day concluded with a gala dinner featuring Fang Xinghai, former Vice Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, and Fang Fenglei, founder of Hopu Investment, in dialogue on China’s capital markets and global opportunities.

Over the next two days, ANVF 2025 will continue with sessions on biotechnology, green energy, and geopolitics, featuring former political leaders, UN officials, and business executives. A special roundtable, “Gateway to Growth: Leveraging Singapore for the Next Stage of Global Expansion,” will highlight Singapore’s role as a hub for corporate internationalization.

Workshops will focus on challenges facing Chinese enterprises going global, covering policy, branding, and market entry. The forum will close with a curated visit to Mandai Wildlife Reserve’s Bird Paradise, combining sustainability learning with networking.

Launched in 2023, ANVF is the first major overseas business leadership forum initiated by a Chinese media organization. Supported by the Singapore government, the forum has grown into an influential regional platform and is confirmed to return to Singapore in 2027 and 2029.
