(Singapore, 17.05.20) In a landmark move underscoring Vietnam’s regional leadership in sustainable mobility, Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM) has officially launched its Xanh SM Platform in Laos, alongside the introduction and distribution of VinFast’s VF 3 and VF 5 electric vehicles. The launch positions Laos as the second international market, after Vietnam, where GSM’s integrated model of eco-friendly ride-hailing and electric vehicle distribution is taking root.

At the grand opening of the country’s first VinFast showroom, located on Kaysone Phomvihane Road in Vientiane’s Xaythany District, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Duy, First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, joined GSM executives and other distinguished guests to commemorate the occasion.
Over the past year, Xanh SM has quietly built a presence in Laos, operating in Vientiane, Vang Vieng, Savannakhet, and Champasak. With more than eight million electric kilometers traveled and carbon emissions reduced at a scale comparable to the annual absorption capacity of 70,000 trees, the service has earned broad public support and demonstrated its compatibility with the Laotian market.
Building on this foundation, GSM is now introducing the Xanh SM Platform—an open technology solution that allows local owners of the VinFast VF 5 to join the platform as ride-hailing partners. With a revenue-sharing model that enables drivers to retain up to 87 percent of fare income, one of the highest in the Laotian market, the platform offers both financial empowerment and access to a wide customer base within the Xanh SM ecosystem. Participants will also benefit from professional training programs aligned with international standards for green mobility services.
Simultaneously, GSM has launched official sales of the VinFast VF 3 and VF 5 electric vehicles in Laos. The VF 5, a compact urban SUV designed for service operations, is priced at 450,297,000 Kip (approximately USD 20,690, VAT included). The VF 3, a four-seat mini electric car tailored for personal use, particularly among young or first-time drivers, is listed at 269,656,000 Kip (USD 12,390, VAT included).
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Global CEO of GSM, emphasized that the launch in Laos is far more than a commercial expansion. It is, he said, a strategic export of a sustainable development model where innovation, green energy, and income generation intersect. “We believe Vietnam is not only capable of producing world-class electric vehicles but also of leading the global mobility transition. Xanh SM is living proof of that vision,” he added.
