(Singapore. 20.07.2025) The 2025 AI for Industries Super League (dubbed the “AI Super League”) officially launched on July 19 in Nanning, Guangxi, under the theme ‘AI for Guangxi, AI for China, AI for ASEAN’, the event will also set up overseas venues in Bangkok, Thailand, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, bringing together AI enterprises and industry leaders to explore new pathways for AI-powered collaborative innovation.

At the launch ceremony, Wei Tao, Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, stated that the event has been designed with specialized tracks including the “Scenario Breakthrough” applied innovation contest, the “Task-Based Bidding” industry challenge, and the “AI for All” public participation event, aiming to address critical issues in implementing AI technologies across key sectors such as automotive, cultural tourism and education, while overcoming technical bottlenecks hindering industrial development and encouraging widespread public engagement with AI products.

According to officials, the competition will feature special awards including the “ASEAN Future Unicorn Companies” designation for promising startups. Leading technology experts from top-tier enterprises and renowned specialist teams will be deeply involved in designing the competition framework. Outstanding entries will be integrated with relevant events at the China-ASEAN Expo, featuring dedicated roadshows and exhibitions.

Chair Professor Yonggang Wen, Fellow of the Academy of Engineering, Singapore and President of Nanyang Technological University told China News Service that ASEAN, as a region with diverse AI application demands, can achieve win-win cooperation with China through “Technology empowering scenarios, complementary advantages, mutual benefit and win-win outcome.” He suggested Guangxi can facilitate ASEAN countries’ emergence as vital markets for AI technology implementation by precisely addressing their specific needs, establishing long-term cooperation mechanisms, and delivering tailored industry solutions, thereby accelerating the region’s collaborative digital economy development. 

According to official information, the “AI Super League” will run through November, inviting participation from leading enterprises, research teams, university students, and individual developers across China and ASEAN nations. The event specifically encourages joint Sino-ASEAN team formations to collaboratively explore regional application scenarios and nurture AI startups targeting ASEAN markets. (End)
