(Singapore, 23.06.2025) Rhenus Group, a global logistics service provider headquartered in Germany, announced today the opening of a new air freight gateway at Changi Airport in Singapore, expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia.

The newly launched facility is designed to support multi-modal cargo movement, providing connections across air, ocean, and cross-border trucking routes. According to the company, the gateway will enhance Rhenus’ existing trans-Pacific operations linking Asia to North and Latin America, while also supporting intra-Asia routes and enabling immediate proximity-based connections to Singapore’s seaport infrastructure.
The new facility currently offers approximately 500 square metres of warehousing space, with plans for expansion based on future demand. The site features ground-level access for 45-foot container unloading, and is situated within a Free Trade Zone. It also provides door-to-door services, in-house customs clearance, import-export consolidation, and additional value-added services such as palletizing, re-labelling, packing, and sorting.
Serdar Onur, Head of Air Freight for Southeast Asia and Oceania at Rhenus Air & Ocean, noted that the new Singapore gateway is part of the company’s broader effort to offer scalable logistics infrastructure across the region, with integrated connectivity into its global freight network. He said the move aims to support faster response times to market changes while improving transit flexibility.
Dominique De Smet, Managing Director of Rhenus Singapore and Malaysia, described the new Singapore gateway as a complement to Rhenus’ existing operations in Malaysia. The company’s Kuala Lumpur facility continues to focus on westbound shipments from Europe to Oceania.
In Malaysia, Rhenus has also recently launched a new 180-foot barge service and a private jetty in Lukut, Negeri Sembilan. The customs-approved jetty is intended to enhance cargo movement between Peninsular and East Malaysia, offering faster clearance and streamlined port operations.
Rhenus Group operates more than 1,300 business sites across over 70 countries and employs 41,000 people globally. Its 2024 turnover amounted to EUR 8.2 billion.
