(Singapore, 01.10.2025)As Singapore commemorates the 150th anniversary of Tan Kah Kee ——one of Asia’s most respected business and philanthropic icons, the city-state once again became a stage for cultural reflection and entrepreneurial gratitude. The Impact Of Asia (IOA), dedicated to advancing impact investment, hosted the IOA Appreciation Concert on 4 Oct 2025, weaving together themes of gratitude, trust, and legacy into a harmonious celebration that transcends both business and art.

A Vision Rooted in Gratitude and Legacy
The concert was born from a spirit of appreciation. IOA envisioned it as a gesture of thanks to its partners and collaborators who have supported its mission throughout 2024–2025. More than a performance, the event served as a symbolic bridge between Tan Kah Kee’s enduring philosophy — “to take from society, and to give back to society” — and IOA’s mission to nurture partnerships grounded in trust and shared purpose.
IOA’s Executive Chairman Daryl Tan described the inspiration behind the concert as “a seed of gratitude and legacy.” He noted that the event not only expressed appreciation for trusted partners but also marked the beginning of a deeper journey of collaboration built on faith and mutual respect.
A great-grandson of the late Tan Kah Kee, Daryl Tan added that since its founding, IOA has upheld the belief that profit and purpose must co-exist. Businesses, he emphasised, should channel a portion of their gains into community development and sustainability — a practice that lies at the heart of impact investment.
On the concert night, IOA hosted a Business Networking Session, bringing together around fifty industry leaders for a private exchange. The discussion focused on three key sectors — technology development, wealth management, and food security — each representing vital frontiers in building resilient and sustainable economies.
Joining as a strategic partner from Xiamen, Boquan Capital — a leading venture capital firm specialising in S funds, fund-of-funds, direct investments, and industrial funds — brought its perspective on cross-border collaboration. Boquan Capital Chairman Yang Hong Tu expressed his confidence in IOA’s trusted ecosystem, saying: “We are excited to explore new markets in Singapore and Indonesia, and to pursue impact investment projects that unite financial innovation with social value.”
IOA’s Mission: Building a Culture of Trust
As night fell, the concert commenced, transforming appreciation into melody. Singaporean musicians took the stage to deliver a performance that intertwined emotion and purpose, reflecting the concert’s dual themes of gratitude and legacy.
Singaporean pianist Churen Li, celebrated for her genre-defying interpretations of classical music, has earned acclaim from the South China Morning Post for her “extraordinary skill” and from The Straits Times for her “boundless” artistry. A graduate of the Yale School of Music and University of Cambridge, she opened the Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s 2022/23 season with the Grieg Piano Concerto and was a recipient of the Tan Kah Kee Postgraduate Scholarship. Her innovative spirit and commitment to cross-disciplinary collaboration perfectly echo the concert’s theme of continuing the legacy through gratitude.

Maestro Joshua Tan, Music Director of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and Asia Virtuosi, is one of Singapore’s most distinguished conductors. A prizewinner at the Dmitri Mitropoulos International Conducting Competition, he has performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic Hall. Known for his expressive and versatile style, Tan infused the evening’s performance with depth and narrative power — a fitting embodiment of the concert’s message of trust and resonance.
Walter Ng, Board Director and CFO of Ruifeng Wealth Management Pte Ltd, co-sponsor and co-organiser of the event, remarked: “We are honoured to partner with IOA in creating this meaningful occasion. Beyond the music, this event opens doors for collaboration, especially in the fields of impact investment and wealth management.”
The Impact Of Asia (IOA) is a not-for-profit organisation devoted to advancing impact investment across Asia. Through music, IOA sought to capture the essence of trust — a harmony that connects people beyond contracts and commerce, resonating instead through shared belief and enduring goodwill.
As the final notes faded into the night, one message lingered — that the harmony of trust is the most powerful symphony of all, guiding enterprises not only toward growth, but toward a legacy of shared purpose, trust, and lasting impact.
